Jai Jinendra
Please join us for a Town Hall Public Meeting on Shikharji at Siddhachalam and a conducted tour of Siddhachalam Tirth at 11:30 am on Sunday, May 23.
Shikharji at Siddhachalam seeks to bring bhava (feeling) of Shikharji yatra (pilgrimage) to North America.
Many Jains are unable to undertake journeys to places of pilgrimage. This is more so for those outside India. As visits become infrequent, and future generations of Jains grow up away from India, so might understanding and bhava associated with pilgrimage.
Teerthraj Shikharji in Parasnath Hills in Giridih, Jharkhand, is the place where 20 of the 24 Tirthankars of the current avasarpini and countless others attained moksha. It is the holiest and loftiest of all Jain teerths, or places of pilgrimage.
For a variety of reasons, however, including remote location and differences between Jain sects, many are unable to visit Shikharji as often as they would like.
Siddhachalam Jain Tirth, the world’s first teerth outside India has embarked on complete replication of Shikharji’s tonks, Jal Mandir and Bhomiyaji temple.
Please join us on May 23, Sunday, at 11:30 am to discuss the project. Be a part of a milestone event in the history of Jains in America.
Lunch will follow the meeting.
