The “Old Temple”
Notice
Guruji’s Birth Anniversary 2009
Jai Jinendra
For many among us, including visiting monks, the “Old Temple” is a favorite meditation spot. The five marble pratimas placed in the “Old Temple” are among the first pratimas that Acharya Sushil Kumar brought with him to America. They were donated by temples in India and carried by Guruji to America. They comprised the first temple that was made at Siddhachalam. These pratimas continue to remain in chalit condition, i.e. awaiting prathishtha. Two of these pratimas are of Mahavir Swami, two of Bhagwan Parsvanath, and one of Bhagwan Mallinath. More pratimas were subsequently added.
Siddhachalam seeks financial support for the replacement of this make-shift “Old Temple” with a larger shikharband temple at the same spot and the prathistha of the pratimas kept there. Contributions in excess of $5,000 would be recognized by one plaque containing the names of donors (with the highest donation on top). Further, all donations henceforth made in the bhandaar kept there will be used exclusively for the building of that temple.
Please feel free to contact the undersigned with any questions or suggestions.
