A Very Special Deepawali Celebration

Siddhachalam Invites You!

Thursday, November 4th is Deepawali!

2,548 years ago that day, Bhagwaan Mahavira, our last Tirthankar, attained moksha after having shown us the path to do so, and His ganadhar (chief disciple) Shri Gautam Swami attained kevalgyan (absolute consciousness). Ever since, we celebrate the historic day as Deepawali.

Deepawali Mahaparv celebrations at Siddhachalam begin at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3 and continue through 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9. This is the last opportunity this Fall before the Tonks and Guruji’s pratima at Tapasya Sthal are veiled. To take laabh for any pujas in advance, please email events@siddhachalam.org.

“Kali Chaudas” (also known as “Kartik vad chaudas” or the 14th dark night of the month of Kartik). On this day, it is considered by many as most auspicious to perform pujan of Ghantakarna Mahavira.

The pujan involves tying 108 knots on an auspicious thread while chanting Namokar Mantra. The tying of knot signifies “personal protection and well-being”. After pujan, one can keep the auspicious thread and tie it at your home temple or place of meditation.

All are required to wear masks, and social distancing rules apply. All other usual temple rules apply, including taking bath ahead of touching any pratimaji (including metal pratimajis). Swamivatsalya (Lunch and Dinner) will be served inside of the Gautam Labdhi Bhandaar due to cold weather conditions.

Finally, as before, darshan to Siddhachalam temples remains open, subject to restrictions. Ashram library and Ahimsa Bhawan remain closed, as before. As the pandemic is better contained, we will review our options.
